Le 25 ème gala annuel de la Princess Grace Foundation – USA a clôturé dix jours d’hommage le 25 octobre en présence de S.A.S. le Prince Souverain Albert II et de S.A.R. la Princesse de Hanovre avec son époux SAR le prince Ernst-August de Hanovre. Remarquée également la présence de Charlène Wittstock qui ne semble plus quitter le prince Albert avec lequel elle avait assisté quelques jours plus tôt à la finale de la Coupe de monde de rugby à Paris.George Lucas, créateur légendaire des sagas Star Wars et Indiana Jones, est cette année le récipiendaire du trophée Prince Rainier III. Le moment fort de la soirée new-yorkaise chez Sotheby's a été la vente aux enchères au profit de la fondation de deux ensembles de la Princesse - une robe de son dernier film High Society, et la robe-tailleur Givenchy qu’elle portait à Washington en 1961 lors d’une rencontre avec le Président Kennedy. « La Princesse Grace était une ambassadrice imcomparable pour la Principauté mais aussi pour son pays natal » explique le Consul Général de Monaco à New York, Maguy Maccario Doyle, « elle est toujours pour le public américain une source d’inspiration et de fierté. Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Friday hosted a dinner friday night for the visiting royal entourage from the Netherlands that is on a two-day visit of the State. The royal entourage comprises Queen Beatrix, Prince of Orange Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs M.J.M. Verhagen and the Netherlands Ambassador to India E.F.Ch. Niehe.The Governor’s dinner followed the entourage’s visit to Kolar district.In the morning, Queen Beatrix was received at the Bangalore Airport by Chief Secretary P.B. Mahishi. Thousands of well-wishers converged on Siriraj Hospital yesterday to offer moral support for Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana who is under close medical supervision following damage to the left side of her brain caused by a blood clot.A stream of people from all walks of life turned up in the courtyard of the Centennial Building to sign a get-well book after learning about the medical condition of His Majesty the King's elder sister.Siriraj Hospital has been packed with well-wishers since the King was admitted on Oct 13 after he experienced weakness on the right side of his body due to an insufficient blood flow to the left cerebral cortex of the brain.According to the latest Royal Household Bureau statement on the King's health, issued yesterday, the monarch's condition has been improving. He can perform more active exercises and has a good appetite, said the 14th bulletin.The princess' health is also improving, the Royal Household Bureau said in its second bulletin on her condition.She is conscious and even though she is still experiencing weakness on the right side of her body, the princess is able to move the left side as normal.The official bulletin said the team of royal physicians diagnosed her with abdominal cancer two years ago, which was the same type as the breast cancer diagnosed and treated 10 years ago.Public health permanent secretary Prat Boonyawongwirote has ordered all hospitals under the ministry to prepare royal images on altars and get-well books for people to pay their respects to and sign get-well messages.Dressed in yellow, the colour which represents the King, well-wishers at Siriraj Hospital brought jasmine garlands, flowers and joss sticks to pray before the statues of the Prince of Songkhla, the King's father, and the Princess Mother, asking for a speedy recovery of both the King and the princess.Some chanted Long Live the King while holding photos of the King and looking up to the 16th floor of the Chalermprakiat Building where both the King and the princess are being treated.

Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Orange and Princess Maxima of The Netherlands will visit Bhutan from October 28-31 on the invitation of His Majesty the King. His Majesty the King and other members of the Royal Family will grant audience to their Royal Highnesses. Their Royal Highnesses are scheduled to visit places of religious and cultural significance in Thimphu and Paro. Their Royal Highnesses will have interaction on “Gross National Happiness” with the Centre for Bhutan Studies and also meet young policy makers and entrepreneurs.The Bhutan Archery Federation (BAF) will demonstrate an archery competition for the royal couple. The BAF is a recipient of the Prince Claus Award in 2004 for its role in preserving Bhutanese archery and in particular for opening up this traditionally male sport to women participants.
